The Future of the Server (Poll) Part 2

I know mani made a poll, but I deleted it for few reasons. It was very complicated and had a lot of if/buts and maybes you know. I want the choices to be simple. I don't want 3 or 4 options with other options on them. It just confuses people and makes the voting not go well.

I am going to propose three options that are all very straight forward. The poll will stay open for a few days and when I feel everyone has had a chance to vote I will close it, if the votes are close then I will hold off a little longer.

Every member of this forum will get an email/pm linking them to this vote. Yes we have all not spent much time on the server the last few weeks but that was to be expected. Once the server moves forward I plan to put just as much effort into it as I did the first few months.

Those of you who have built some amazing builds, I ask that you consider that there will not likely be a new patch for 6 months or there about's. I also ask that you think about whats best for the server and its future growth as a whole.

Voting options:

1. Complete Fresh Start (new seed, nothing carried over)
2. New Seed (One double chest of items per player carried over)
3. Keep the map and just update bukkit

Before you think "Hell no! Im not losing my builds or items". Think of it as a new adventure, a chance to build or do things differently. Think about when we start opening the whitelist again, and put yourself in those peoples shoes who newly join the server only to find out how much of the map is built on, explored and doesn't contain 1.3 stuff.

Yes its easy to say we can do a new spawn 50k blocks from old spawn but the map right now is 2.4gb zipped. I worry that we might run into problems down the road if we do that.

Personally,,, If I had built a shitload of stuff like some of you have, I would be sad to see it go but I would want fresh start/new seed/new adventure, for the reason that it is the best option for the future of the server. Yes its easy for me to say because I never built a city or replicated a national library, but If I had I would still be voting for a new seed. You dont expect to keep the same seed for 2 years or something you know. You would just get bored and sick of it.

Any nuff said.

Whatever the outcome is we wont be opening the whitelist until I know we have working compatible anti grief plugins running.

After playing on the event server I voted for a fresh start. Forgot most of the fun of MC was building!

Keep map, not that it looks like it will make a difference, I for one will not be motivated by losing over 100 hours of building, quite the opposite. If the majority of the server wants a fresh start then that's fair enough, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I wanted to take advantage of the 1.3 stuff I'd just move a good distance away from everyone else, no need to implement a warp, just take a bed.
Of course new starters will have to move away from spawn to enjoy 1.3, but you would have to anyway, as the map has been mined to death within a X000 block radius of spawn.

Voted for option 1 also, although I do feel sad for loosing the library, knowing how much work we put in and how many sheeps were harmed.

Completely fresh start sounds good. I made a Pagoda then got bored as I didnt want to leave it but I didnt like where it was.

One question though if we do start a new world would it be standard or large biomes?

Voted for fresh start again. I've really enjoyed playing on the 1.3 events server even though it's only temporary. Can't wait!

Although I voted for fresh start with items, I realized that I dont care about items and I just wanna have fun. New map ASAP.

Voted option 2, new seed with double chest. I would be fine with a fresh start, as well. The only thing I wouldn't be fond of losing is my fortune pick.

Whatever is decided will be fine for me. I'd like for it to be implemented soon, as I'm ready to start on my new builds or get back to the old ones -whichever it turns out to be.

IF, and its a big if at this point with only a quarter of the votes, we are getting to take stuff over to new world, my double chest is at the bottom of my stairs in my main house. The house by the portal tree in Jungle Shores. If we do not get to take stuff over, I still can't wait to get going!

Hey guys, currently on vaca. Hopefully I'll be on Saturday and see wats up. Btw I hate the keypad on the iPad. :/

I've also placed a "just in case" chest at my nether portal. It contains everything NSX and I would like to bring with us, aside from whatever NSX has on his character.

I also put a sign next to it, giving all mods/admins permission to move the chest, in case NSX or I cannot be online if the transfer occurs.

Do we get to keep what is on us too?

Shendo and I will put up double chests in the spawn town build for us and load ourselves up. Please let us know where the things we can bring over should be placed and we will pack accordingly. We will place the same signage near the chests that Twiggs thought to do. So exciting! It's like moving out with all your college friends!

For those worried about getting their enchanted items back. The new enchanting system is cake. You get xp from more things, max enchant is lvl 30 and you always have max enchant lvl available as long as your library is setup accordingly.

Here's a simple enough question; any plans for a server texture pack for 1.3 when it does go live? I realize most people probably have strong preferences, but it would let everyone have a 'recommended alternative.' Plus, even if the default texture pack was left alone, you can do custom paintings easily to provide server flavor.
