Subject: Lack of mobs spawning Wed Aug 22, 2012 7:12 pm
Over the past couple nights while caving I have noticed a distinct lack of mobs spawning, even in unlit caves. Several theories were brought up like it being night time and mobs are on surface, or many players so mob count gets spread out.
But I'll cave in the dark for 30+ minutes and not see a SINGLE enemy. So just now I sat in a dark cave, just a bit of lava light in the background, for 10+ minutes without moving.
Any idea whats going on?

Hm, I'm not certain, but it could possibly be the amount of npc's in the area?
But I'm only to the west of you, and I have about 20 npc, friendly mobs, and I still get a decent amount of mob spawning at night too. But I would imagine I'm a far enough distance away from you for that to affect you?

actually, they must have changed somthing in the game because a lot of people on youtube have noticed their mob spawners are not working as well as they used to in 1.2.5. I can only assume that that problem is directly related to this one. Idk if it's a bug or a permanent thing, but mojang should get right on it and fix it.

I've never seen many mobs while caving, even before 1.3.
The only place I tend to find mobs (besides spawners and the surface at night) is at the bottom of ravines and in "Abandoned Mineshafts".
